KVBC Channel 3 Bio:

Many people still ask Nina about her experience at the Las Vegas
Metropolitan Police Academy. In 2000, Nina actually put on a police
uniform and spent three weeks as a police recruit to show viewers what it
takes to earn the badge. Her five part series won an Edward R. Murrow
award for journalistic excellence. That story has afforded her unprecedented
access to the work of local police. Most recently, Nina went behind the
crime scene tape as homicide detectives worked to solve the first murder
of 2005. That led to her Emmy-award winning story, Murder 1.
The Crime Tracker 3 segment has garnered several other awards as well,
including Electronic Media awards for best regularly scheduled feature
and a Jerry Lee Foundation award recognizing effective crime prevention
programming.
Nina extends her crime beat to community involvement. She's a member of
the Board of Directors of the Rape Crisis Center, working to raise money
for victims of sexual assault. For the past 3 years, she's hosted Nina's
Night Out at the Palms Hotel & Casino. Through that event, she's
raised over $250,000 for the Rape Crisis Center.
Nina was born and raised in San Rafael, California, and attended the
University of California-Los Angeles, where she graduated with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Mass Communication. She started her television career
in 1994 at KABC-TV in Los Angeles, where she worked behind the scenes.
She got her first on-air job at KERO-TV in Bakersfield, California.
Since she's been in Las Vegas, Nina has been named Best Local News Anchor
by Las Vegas Life Magazine and nominated several times for Best Anchor in
the Electronic Media Awards.
In her spare time, Nina enjoys training for and competing in triathlons.
You can find her most days swimming, biking, running, or hiking with her
chocolate lab, Duke."
