Vance and his twin brother Tom were born 20 December 1913 in Novi Vinodol during a return trip by their mother Marija Mudrovcic. Unfortunately, the outbreak of World War I stranded the family in Novi until 1920. Elder brothers John, Matt, and Chris returned with the twins and their mother, bringing Aunt Ivana with them.

Vance died 22 February 1993. . .
